Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) urinated, then performed ablution and wiped over his socks and shoes.

Hazrat Abu Zubyan narrates that I saw Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) urinating while standing, then he performed ablution and wiped over his sandals.

Hazrat Zaid narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) urinated and wiped over his sandals.

It is narrated from Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) performed urination and then wiped over his sandals.

Hazrat Aws bin Aws narrates from his father that I was with my father, and he reached one of the wells among the wells of the Arabs. He performed ablution and wiped over his sandals. I spoke to him about this, so he said: I have not added anything to what I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do.

Hazrat Saeed bin Abdullah bin Zarrar narrates that Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) performed ablution, and he wiped over his socks.

Hazrat Khallas narrates that I saw Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) urinate at the place of Rahbah, then he wiped over his socks and shoes. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa’s opinion has been mentioned that: he considered wiping over socks and shoes to be disliked, except if there was leather underneath the socks.
