Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) offered the funeral prayer at the grave after the burial.

Hazrat Kharijah bin Zaid narrates from his uncle Yazid bin Thabit that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer for a woman after her burial, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said four takbirs over her.

Hazrat Umamah bin Sahl narrates from his father that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to visit the sick among the poor of Madinah, and when they died, he would attend their funerals. The narrator says: A woman from among the people of 'Awali passed away. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went towards the grave of that woman and said four takbirs.

Hazrat Imran bin Husain narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One of your brothers has passed away, so perform his funeral prayer." By this, Najashi is meant.

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer for Najashi and he said four takbirs in it.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Holy Prophet offered the funeral prayer for a deceased after the burial had been completed.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer for Ashamah and said four takbirs. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion has been mentioned that the funeral prayer is not offered twice for one deceased.
