Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah narrates that Allah Almighty says: What is wrong with those people who wish to become wise without My worship? They wear the skins of sheep, but their hearts are more bitter than colocynth (a bitter fruit). Are they deceived because of Me, or are they trying to deceive Me? I swear by Myself that I will put them through such a trial in this world that even the forbearing among them will be left astonished and bewildered.

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah narrates that an arrogant and rebellious person said, "I will not refrain from oppression until I have seen all the creatures present in the sky." Upon this, Allah Almighty set upon him one of His weakest creatures. A louse entered his nose and became the cause of his death. He used to say, "Hit my head," and people struck his head so much that his brain became exposed.

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah says that a just government silences the voices coming from Allah Almighty, and with an oppressive government, the complaints going towards Allah increase.

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah, in the commentary of the verse {إنَّ ہَؤُلاَئِ لَشِرْذِمَۃٌ قَلِیلُونَ } of the Holy Quran, states that they were six hundred and seventy thousand people.
