Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated about Hazrat Alqamah that he used to say to his companions, "Come with us so that we may increase our faith."

It is narrated from Ibn Aun, he says that Sha'bi was asked about Alqamah? So he replied: He was with the slow ones, but he would catch up with the swift ones.

It is narrated from Hazrat Marrah that he says Hazrat Alqamah was among the people of Allah.

It is narrated from Ibrahim that he says Alqamah recited the Qur'an in one night.

It is narrated from Hazrat Alqamah regarding {إنَّ زَلْزَلَۃَ السَّاعَۃِ شَیْئٌ عَظِیمٌ}. Hazrat Shareek says that this will happen in this world before the Day of Judgment. Hazrat Jarir says that it will happen on the Day of Judgment.

It is narrated from Ibrahim that he said: When Alqamah saw his companions happy and cheerful, he would remind them of similar days.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Muammar that he said: We went to Hazrat Amr bin Shurahbil, and he said: Come with us to the man who most closely resembles Hazrat Abdullah in manner and conduct. So we went to Hazrat Alqamah.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ma'mar that he said: We were sitting with Hazrat Amr bin Shurahbil when he said: Go with us to that person among the people who most closely resembles Hazrat Abdullah in way of life, manner of speech, and conduct, and who is the greatest confidant of Hazrat Abdullah. We did not know who he was until we reached Hazrat Alqamah.

It is narrated from Ibrahim, he says that one morning Hazrat Hammam came after combing his hair, so some people said: Hazrat Hammam's locks are indicating that he did not use a pillow last night.

It is narrated from Ibrahim, he says that there was a man among us who was called Hammam bin Harith. During prayer in the mosque, he would only sleep while sitting, and used to say: O Allah! Grant me healing from a little sleep and make my wakefulness in Your obedience.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Ma'qil that he says: (وَلَوْ تَرَی إذْ فَزِعُوا فَلاَ فَوْتَ) meaning they will be extremely frightened but death will not come to them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Shurahbeel that he says: I am ready for death today, I am light in condition, I have not left any debt, nor have I left any dependents whose destruction I fear. If it were not for the fear of the Day of Judgment.

Hazrat Abu Ishaq narrates about Hazrat Abu Maisarah, he says that when he would come to his bed, he would start crying and then say: I wish my mother had never given birth to me. He was asked: Why? He replied: Because we have been informed that we will be made to pass over it, but we have not been told that we will cross it safely.

It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Shurahbeel that he said: A man died and people thought that he was pious. Then someone came to his grave and it was said to him: "We will strike you with a hundred lashes of God's punishment." He said: "For what reason will you lash me when I used to be very cautious and pious?" It was said: "Fifty." The number kept decreasing until it reached one lash. So he was struck with one lash, and the grave was set ablaze with fire and the person perished. Then he was brought back to life and he said: "For what reason did you strike me with a lash?" They replied: "One day you knowingly performed prayer while you were without ablution, and a weak, poor person sought help from you but you did not help him."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Wa'il that he said: I have never wished to be in the body of any Hamdani except Amr bin Shurahbil.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Maisarah that he says: Whoever acted upon this verse, indeed he has attained complete righteousness. { لَیْسَ الْبِرَّ أَنْ تُوَلُّوا وُجُوہَکُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ }

It is narrated from Hazrat A'mash that he says Hazrat Abu Al-Sha'tha Salim bin Aswad came to visit Hazrat Abu Wa'il and said: Surely there is comfort in death. Upon this, Hazrat Abu Wa'il said: I have a companion better than you, that is, five prayers in a day.

Hazrat A'mash narrates that Hazrat Abu Wa'il said to me: O Sulaiman! By Allah, if we had obeyed Allah, He would not have disobeyed us.

It is narrated from Hazrat Asim that Hazrat Abu Wa'il used to say in the state of prostration: If You forgive me, then You will forgive me despite Your power, and if You punish me, then Your punishment will neither be that of a tyrant nor will it be preceded. Then he began to weep.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mughira that he says: Ibrahim Taimi used to deliver sermons and admonitions in the house of Hazrat Abu Wa'il. And Hazrat Abu Wa'il would flutter like the fluttering of a bird.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Wa'il that he said: The example of the reciters (Qurra) of our time is like that of adulterated dirhams, or like those goats that eat chickpeas and then their bellies swell. So if any of those goats is slaughtered, there is no marrow in it.

It is narrated about Hazrat Shaqiq that when he performed ablution, he would say to Satan, "Bring all your needs now."

It is narrated from Hazrat A'mash that he says: Ibrahim said to me, "Adhere to Hazrat Shaqiq, because I found the companions of Hazrat Abdullah to be many, but they considered him better than themselves."
