Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The people before you were destroyed by this dinar and dirham, and these two will also destroy you.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Musa narrates from his father that regarding (وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّہِ جَنَّتَانِ), he said: For the forerunners there will be two gardens of gold, and for the followers there will be two gardens of silver.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: On the Day of Resurrection, the sun will be above the heads of the people, and the deeds of the people will shade them or leave them exposed to the sun.

It is narrated from Hazrat Masruq that he says: We were with Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him). He says: So we came to a deserted garden at night. Masruq says: Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up at night, prayed, recited beautifully, then said: O Allah! You are the Believer and love the believer. You are the Protector and love the protector. You are Peace and love peace. You are Truthful and love the truthful.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: When the soul of a believer departs, it is more fragrant than musk. The narrator says: Then the angels who have taken out this soul ascend with it. Then, before reaching the sky, other angels meet them and ask: Who is this with you? The angels reply: So-and-so, and the angels mention him by his best deeds. Upon this, the questioning angels say: May Allah's mercy be upon you and upon the one who is with you. The narrator says: Then the gates of the sky are opened for him. The narrator says: Then his face becomes radiant. Thus, when he comes before his Lord, there is a proof in his face like the sun. He said: And as for the other one, when his soul departs, it is more foul-smelling than a carcass. The angels who take it out ascend with it, and before reaching the sky, some angels meet them and say: Who is this? The angels say: So-and-so, and mention him by his worst deeds. The narrator says: Upon this, those angels say: Return him. Allah has not wronged him in any way. The narrator says: Then Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: { وَلاَ یَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّۃَ حَتَّی یَلِجَ الْجَمَلُ فِی سَمِّ الْخِیَاطِ }

It is narrated from Muhammad that he says: Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Amir from Abdullah bin Qais to Amir bin Abdullah ... who was previously called Abd Qais ... To proceed! I had made a covenant with you on a matter and it has reached me that you have changed. Therefore, if you are still upon the agreement I made, then fear God and remain steadfast. And if you have changed, then fear God and return.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: A good companion is better than solitude, and solitude is better than a bad companion. Beware! The example of a good companion is like that of perfume; even if he does not give you any, still by being near him you will become fragrant. And beware! The example of a bad companion is like that of a furnace’s smoke; even if it does not burn you, its smell will reach you. Beware! The heart is called “qalb” because of its tendency to turn. Beware! The example of the heart is like a feather hanging from a tree in the open air; the wind keeps turning it over and over, up and down.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he says: We were with Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) at his house when he heard some people talking, and he listened to them with eloquence and fluency. The narrator says that he (Abu Musa) said: O Anas! Come, let us remember Allah for a while. Because these are such that one of them could cut leather with his tongue. Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: What has prevented people from the Hereafter? What has stopped them from it? The narrator says I said: The world and desires. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No. Rather, the Hereafter is hidden from the eyes and the world is present. If people were to witness (the Hereafter), they would neither act justly among them nor hesitate.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Verily, this Qur'an will be a reward for you and a reminder for you. And it will be a burden upon you. So follow the Qur'an and do not make the Qur'an follow you. Because whoever follows the Qur'an, it will lead him to the gardens of Paradise, and whoever makes the Qur'an follow him, it will seize him by the back of his neck and throw him into Hell.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: When Iblis rises in the morning, he sends out his army. One says: I kept accompanying him until he drank alcohol. Satan says: You are fine. Another says: I kept accompanying him until he committed adultery. Iblis says: You are fine. One says: I kept accompanying him until he committed murder. Iblis says: You are fine.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu’l-Aswad that he says Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) gathered the reciters. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Only those should come here who have compiled the Qur’an. The narrator says that about three hundred people gathered. Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) advised us and said: You people are the reciters of this city. Do not have long hopes, otherwise your hearts will become hardened just as the hearts of the People of the Book became hardened.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Burdah that he says: My father sent me towards Madinah and said: Meet the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and ask them questions. And remember, I will ask you (about it). So I met Hazrat Ibn Salam; he was a humble man.
