Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: Love for the sake of Allah. Hate for the sake of Allah. Befriend for the sake of Allah and show enmity for the sake of Allah. Because the friendship of Allah is attained through this. Even if a person's prayers and fasts become numerous, he does not taste the sweetness of faith until he becomes like this.

Hazrat Qasim narrates about Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), he says that he was asked: Do you prefer a person with many sins and many good deeds, or a person with few sins and few good deeds? He replied: I do not equate anything with safety (from sin).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: Good appearance, good manner of walking, and moderation are one part out of the twenty-five parts of Prophethood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding { وَنَادَی أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّۃِ أَنْ أَفِیضُوا عَلَیْنَا مِنَ الْمَائِ }. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man will call out to his brother, and a man will call out to another man. The man will say: I have been burnt, so pour water over me. The narrator says: It will be said to this man, "Give him a reply." He will say: Indeed, Allah has forbidden both of them to the disbelievers.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the Divine command { الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ }, he said: Satan sits upon the heart of the son of Adam; so when a person forgets and becomes heedless, Satan whispers (evil) into him, and when the person remembers Allah, he withdraws.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the Divine Command { ذَلِکَ یَوْمٌ مَجْمُوعٌ لَہُ النَّاسُ وَذَلِکَ یَوْمٌ مَشْہُودٌ}. He said: This refers to the Day of Resurrection.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding { آنَائَ اللَّیْلِ } that he said: This is the middle of the night.

It is narrated from Hazrat Antarah that he says: I asked Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), "Which deed is the best?" He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: The remembrance of Allah is the greatest deed. No group of people sit together in a house to teach each other the Book of Allah except that the angels shade them with their wings, and as long as they are engaged in this act, they are guests of Allah. This continues until they become occupied with something else.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: { وَنُفِخَ فِی الصُّوْرِ فَصَعِقَ مَنْ فِی السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِی الأَرْضِ إِلاَّ مَنْ شَائَ اللَّہُ } He said: On that day, the first trumpet will be blown and people will become bones and fragments, then the second trumpet will be blown: "Then suddenly they will be standing, looking on."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding { یَعِظُکُمُ اللَّہُ أَنْ تَعُودُوا لِمِثْلِہِ } that he said: Allah Almighty is prohibiting you from returning to its like.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the Divine command (فَاتَّقُوا اللَّہَ وَأَصْلِحُوا ذَاتَ بَیْنِکُمْ) that he said: It is obligatory upon the believers from Allah that they adopt piety and maintain reconciliation among themselves.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Allah Almighty has guaranteed for the one who follows the Qur'an that he will not go astray in this world and will not be wretched in the Hereafter. Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) recited: { فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ ہُدَایَ فَلاَ یَضِلُّ وَلاَ یَشْقَی }.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the Divine command { تَوَفَّتْہُ رُسُلُنَا وَہُمْ لاَ یُفَرِّطُونَ } that he says these are the angels who assist the Angel of Death.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding {إذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَۃُ }, he said: This is the Day of Resurrection. { لَیْسَ لِوَقْعَتِہَا کَاذِبَۃٌ خَافِضَۃٌ رَافِعَۃٌ} He said: It will raise some people and lower some people.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) regarding {إنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ یُذْہِبْنَ السَّیِّئَاتِ }. He said: These are the five prayers.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: The earth weeps for a believing servant for forty days.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: Whoever shows off, Allah Almighty also shows off with him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) regarding { سَیَجْعَلُ لَہُمُ الرَّحْمَن وُدًّا }. He said: Allah loves them and makes them beloved to (the people).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: The son of Adam has thirty-three limbs, and on each limb, there is the zakat of glorifying, praising, and remembering Allah.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding { لِکَیْلاَ تَأْسَوْا عَلَی مَا فَاتَکُمْ وَلاَ تَفْرَحُوا بِمَا آتَاکُمْ } that he said: Every person experiences happiness and sorrow, but the one who endures calamity with patience and responds to goodness with gratitude.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding { مَا لَکُمْ لاَ تَرْجُونَ لِلَّہِ وَقَارًا }. He said: What is the matter with you that you do not recognize its greatness as it truly deserves?

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari that he said: A person saw a skull and something came into his heart. The narrator says, but he fell into prostration at that very place, repenting. The narrator says, it was said to him: Raise your head, for you are you and I am I.
