Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Wa'il says that we were with Salman bin Rabee'ah in the battle of Balanjar. He forbade us from riding the animals of the spoils of war and permitted us to use the drums, ropes, and sieves from the spoils of war.

Hazrat Malik bin Suhar narrates that we participated in the battle of Balanjar. My brother was wounded in it. I carried him on my back. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) saw me and asked, "Who is this?" I said, "He is my brother; he has been wounded. Next year we will come to conquer it." Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Allah Almighty will not grant its conquest at my hands, nor the conquest of Constantinople, nor of Daylam."

Hazrat Malik bin Sahar narrates that we participated in the jihad of Balanjar. But we did not achieve victory. People said that we will come next year to conquer it. Upon this, Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) said that this region, the city of disbelief, and Daylam will be conquered at the hands of a man from the family of Muhammad ﷺ.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that when Hazrat Salman participated in jihad in the region of Balanger, he received a pouch of musk as his share, which he entrusted to his wife for safekeeping. Then, during his final illness, he asked his wife to bring him that pouch. He then requested a clean vessel and told his wife to mix the perfume with water and sprinkle it around him, because there were such creatures of Allah (angels) coming to him who do not eat food but perceive fragrance. Then he told her to go outside. His wife did as instructed and went outside; when she returned, he had passed away.

The father of Hazrat Rakeen narrates that we were with Salman bin Rabee’ah in Balanjar. After fasting for twenty-nine days of Ramadan, I saw the moon on the thirtieth day at the time of Duha (forenoon). He said to me, "Show me." I showed him the moon, so he ordered the people to break their fast.

Hazrat Salman used to say that I have killed a hundred men with this sword of mine; all of them used to worship other than Allah. I have not killed any patient person with it.

Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that Constantinople, Daylam, and Tabaristan will be conquered at the hands of a man from Banu Hashim.
