Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Hassan narrates that I arrived in Madinah Munawwarah and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was seated on the pulpit, and Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing before him with a sword hanging by his side. Suddenly, black flags appeared. I inquired, "Who are these?" People informed me that Hazrat Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) has returned from a battle.

Hazrat Umrah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the flag of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was black, which was made from the woolen sheet of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and it had saddle designs on it.

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the flag of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was black and its name was 'Uqab' (Eagle).

Hazrat Harith narrates that in the Battle of Jamal, Hazrat Ali's (may Allah be pleased with him) flag was black, and the flag of those people was a camel.

Hazrat Harith narrates that in the Battle of Jamal, Hazrat Ali's (may Allah be pleased with him) flag was black, and the flag of Hazrat Zubair and Talha was a camel.

It is narrated from Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Damascus, the flag of Hazrat Khalid bin Walid was black.

Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I met my maternal uncle who had a flag with him. I asked, "Where are you going?" He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sent me to kill the man who married his father's wife after his father's death."
