Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I participated in the Battle of Uhud with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I struck a polytheist with my sword saying, "Here, take this! I am a Persian slave." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of this, he said, "Why did you not say that this blow is on my behalf? I am an Ansari slave."

Hazrat Qais bin Basheer (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that my father used to sit in the gathering of Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) in Damascus. In Damascus, there was an Ansari companion named Ibn al-Hanzaliyah. One day, when I was with Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him), he passed by us. Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Tell us something that will benefit us but not harm you." He said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a detachment for jihad. When they returned, one of them came and sat in the gathering of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and after a while, he said to the person next to him: "If you had seen the scene when we met the enemy, so-and-so struck the enemy with a spear saying, 'Take this, I am a Ghifari slave.'" The other person said, "I think he has wasted his reward." The first person said, "I do not think there is any harm in it." They disputed and differed over this matter, and the issue reached the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Subhan Allah!" (expressing amazement) "There is no harm; he will be given reward and he will be praised." The narrator says that I saw Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) became very happy upon hearing this, to the extent that he stood up and was about to sit on his knees and asked, "Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Yes, I myself heard it."

Hazrat Malik bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) says that on the day of Qadisiyyah you did not want to hear that I am a Nakha'i slave (youth), but you heard it.

Hazrat Qais bin Abu Hazim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Qadisiyyah, we were in our ranks when Hazrat Amr bin Ma’di Karib (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by us and said: O young men of Arabia! Become tough-hearted lions, for surely a lion is one who enriches, and the Persians are like goats after they have been struck with a small spear.

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said on the day of the Battle of Hunain: I am a Prophet, there is no lie in this, and I am the son of Abdul Muttalib.
