Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not wish to meet the enemy, ask Allah for well-being, and if you do encounter the enemy, remain steadfast and remember Allah, and if there is a crowd or they scream, then silence is incumbent upon you.

It is narrated from Hazrat Qais bin Abad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) liked to lower their voices in three situations: at the time of battle, at the time of recitation of the Qur'an, and at the time of a funeral.

Hazrat Ata says that during battle, silence is necessary and the remembrance of Allah is necessary. Then he recited the verse of the Holy Qur'an { فَاثْبُتُوا وَاذْکُرُوا اللَّہَ کَثِیرًا }. Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I asked, "Should the remembrance be done in a loud voice?" He replied, "Yes."

Hazrat Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) liked to lower their voices at three times: during battle, at the time of a funeral, and at the time of remembrance (dhikr).

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said that it is disliked to raise the voice during battle, at the time of reciting the Holy Qur'an, and at the time of a funeral.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not wish to meet the enemy; ask Allah for well-being. But if you do encounter the enemy, then remain steadfast and remember Allah. And if there is a crowd or they shout, then silence is obligatory upon you.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the army, the voice of Abu Talha is better than a group.
