Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat A'mash (may Allah have mercy on him) that the companions of Hazrat Abdullah participated in jihad alongside Hajjaj bin Yusuf during his era, among whom the names of Abdur Rahman bin Yazid, Abu Sinan, and Abu Hahifah are notable.

It is narrated from Hazrat A'mash (may Allah have mercy on him) that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid (may Allah have mercy on him) fought alongside the Khawarij during the era of Hajjaj.

It is narrated from Hazrat A'mash (may Allah be pleased with him) that Ibrahim participated in jihad during the time of Hajjaj.

Hazrat Abu Jamrah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I asked Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about fighting alongside those rulers who have introduced innovations in religion and have committed oppression. He replied: "You fight for your share of the Hereafter (reward), they fight for their share of the world."

Sulaiman Al-Ashkari, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I asked Hazrat Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, what is the ruling on fighting alongside an oppressor and a misguided person? Hazrat Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, replied: You will receive the reward according to your intention, and they will receive according to their intention.

It was asked from Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) and Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him): What is the ruling on fighting alongside oppressive rulers? Both of them replied: For you is the reward and honor of this jihad, and upon them is their sin.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman bin Yazid al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked my father, "O father! Did you participate in jihad during the governorship of Hajjaj?" He replied, "O son! I have even seen those people who were harsher than you regarding the matter of Hajjaj, but even then they did not abandon jihad. And if people had the same opinion as you do, then even the tribute (kharaj) would not have been paid."

It was mentioned to Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) that some people say there is no jihad. Ibrahim said: This thing has been brought to them by Satan.

Hazrat Mujahid says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) about what is the ruling on performing jihad alongside oppressive and tyrannical rulers? He replied: Perform jihad.

Hazrat Laith states that Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) participated in jihad alongside Banu Marwan, and Hazrat Ata did not consider there to be any harm in this.

Ibrahim narrates that during the era of Hajjaj, when people set out for jihad, Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid also set out with them.
