Those Who Say to Eat the Food But Not to Take It, and Those Who Allow Taking It
Hadith 35580
٣٥٥٨٠ - حدثنا معتمر بن سليمان عن زياد بن سعد شيخ من أهل واسط أن ⦗٤٤٠⦘ عبد اللَّه بن عباس لم ير بأسا أن يأكل الرجل الطعام في أرض (الشرك) (١) حتى يدخل أهله (٢).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) did not consider it objectionable for a person to eat from the food available in the land of the polytheists, until he returned to his family.
Hadith 35581
٣٥٥٨١ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن حجاج عن الحسن بن أبي الحسن وأبي إسحاق أنهما (قالا) (١) في القوم يصيبون الغنيمة: يأكلون ولا يحملون.
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) bin Abi Al-Hasan and Abu Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) say regarding those people who obtain spoils of war: they should consume it and not hoard it.
Hadith 35582
٣٥٥٨٢ - حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان عن الأفريقي عن خالد بن أبي عمران قال: سألت القاسم وسالمًا عن الرجل يصيب الطعام في أرض العدو فيصيب منه ويكسب منه الدراهم فقالا: يجعله في طعام يأكله ولا يكسب منه عقدة مال.
Hazrat Khalid bin Abu Imran says that I asked Hazrat Qasim (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Salim (may Allah be pleased with him) whether if a person finds food in the enemy's land, can he use it and can he sell it in exchange for dirhams? They replied: He may eat the food, but he should not sell it in exchange for wealth.
