Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Regarding the houses of the polytheists, about those houses in which plots are made, while there are also women and children among them? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are from among them.

Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Kill the elderly among the polytheists, and leave alive those children who have just reached the beginning of youth.

Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kill women and children as well who provided assistance against them.

Hazrat Awza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) about the enemy: when they are overpowered, should their messenger also be killed? He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to kill the messenger when victory was achieved over them, and he would also take them captive along with that.

Hazrat Hisham (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hasan Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When any woman from among the polytheists comes out to fight, then you should kill her.
