Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Aun (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I wrote a letter to Hazrat Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) asking about inviting the polytheists: so he (may Allah have mercy on him) wrote back to me that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both, may Allah have mercy on him) informed me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) attacked Banu Mustaliq while they were unaware, and their cattle were drinking water. And Hazrat Juwayriya bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) was among the spoils of war obtained from there. And Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: and I was among the horsemen.

Hazrat Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we went on a military expedition against the tribe of Hawazin along with Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). We reached the watering place of Banu Fazarah and spent the night there. When morning came, we launched a sudden attack on them.

Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me towards a settlement named Yabni. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Reach there in the morning, then set it on fire.

Hazrat Iyas bin Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that his father, Hazrat Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him), said: We launched a military expedition against the tribe of Hawazin along with Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). We reached their water sources and spent the night there. We killed nine or seven of the residents who were staying there.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out towards Khaybar. He (peace be upon him) reached there at night. And whenever the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would reach a people at night, he (peace be upon him) would not attack them until he (peace be upon him) had spent the night and it was morning.

Hazrat Abu Imran (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a person said: We used to attack the polytheists and would acquire wealth from them. During this, Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) would be hearing our voices.

Hazrat Nazar bin Arabi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) used to write letters to the commanders of the armies, forbidding them from launching attacks during the winter.
