Hadith 35044
٣٥٠٤٤ - حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن موسى بن عبيدة عن زيد بن أسلم عن أبيه قال: بُشر عمر بفتح فسجد (١).
Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that his father Hazrat Aslam (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was given the glad tidings of victory, he (may Allah be pleased with him) performed a prostration of gratitude.
Hadith 35045
٣٥٠٤٥ - حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن مسعر عن محمد بن عبيد اللَّه أن أبا بكر أتاه فتح فسجد (١).
Hazrat Mas'ar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Muhammad bin Ubaidullah said: When Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) received the news of victory, he (may Allah be pleased with him) performed a prostration of gratitude.
Hadith 35046
٣٥٠٤٦ - حدثنا وكيع قال: (ثنا) (١) مسعر عن أبي عون الثقفي محمد بن ⦗٢٨٤⦘ عبيد اللَّه عن وجل لم يسمه، أن أبا بكر لما أتاه فتح اليمامة سجد (٢).
Hazrat Abu Awn Muhammad bin Ubaidullah Al-Thaqafi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a person — whose name he did not mention — said: When the news of the conquest of Yamamah reached Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), he (may Allah be pleased with him) performed a prostration of gratitude.
Hadith 35047
٣٥٠٤٧ - حدثنا شريك عن محمد بن قيس عن أبي موسى قال: رأيت عليًا (حين) (١) (أتي) (٢) (بالمخدج) (٣) سجد سجدة شكر (٤).
Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I saw Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when the news of the Mukhaddaj was brought to him, he (may Allah be pleased with him) performed a prostration of gratitude (sajdah shukr).
Hadith 35048
٣٥٠٤٨ - حدفنا وكيع (قال) (١): (ثنا) (٢) سفيان عن محمد بن قيس الهمداني عن شيخ لهم يكنى أبا موسى قال: شهدت عليا لما أتي (بالمخدج) (٣) سجد (٤).
Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I was present with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when the news of the Mukhaddaj was brought to him, so he (may Allah be pleased with him) performed a prostration of gratitude.
Hadith 35049
٣٥٠٤٩ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا ابن عبيد العجلي عن أبي (مؤمن) (١) (الوائلي) (٢) قال: شهدت عليا أتي (بالمخدج) (٣) فسجد (٤).
Hazrat Abu Momin Al-Wathili (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I was present with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when the news of the Mukhaddaj was brought, so he (may Allah be pleased with him) performed a prostration of gratitude.
Hadith 35050
٣٥٠٥٠ - حدثنا وكيع (١) ثنا مسعر عن أبي عون الثقفي عن يحيى بن الجزار أن ⦗٢٨٥⦘ النبي ﷺ مر به رجل وبه زمانة فسجد وأبو بكر وعمر (٢).
Hazrat Yahya bin Jazar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was afflicted with a chronic illness, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a prostration of gratitude, and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also performed a prostration of gratitude.
Hadith 35051
٣٥٠٥١ - حدثنا شريك عن جابر عن أبي جعفر قال: مر على رسول اللَّه ﷺ رجل قصير، (قال) (١): فسجد سجدة الشكر وقال: "الحمد للَّه الذي لم يجعلني (مثل) (٢) زنيم" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Ja'far, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that a short man passed by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so the Prophet performed a prostration of gratitude and said: All praise is due to Allah who did not create me like a small person.
Hadith 35052
٣٥٠٥٢ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا سفيان عن جابر عن أبي جعفر أن النبي ﷺ مر بنغاش فسجد وقال: "سلوا اللَّه العافية" (١).
Hazrat Abu Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a short-statured man and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Seek well-being from Allah.
Hadith 35053
٣٥٠٥٣ - حدثنا جرير عن منصور قال: حدثت أن أبا بكر سجد سجدة الشكر (١).
Hazrat Mansur (may Allah have mercy on him) says that it has been narrated to me that Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) performed the prostration of gratitude, and Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) considered it disliked.
Hadith 35055
٣٥٠٥٥ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا سفيان عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال: سجدة الشكر بدعة.
Hazrat Mughira (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Performing the prostration of gratitude (Sajda-e-Shukr) is an innovation (bid'ah).
Hadith 35056
٣٥٠٥٦ - حدثنا هشيم قال: ثنا الكلبي عن أبي صالح عن ابن عباس قال: لما نزل نكاح زينب انطلق زيد بن حارثة حتى استأذن على زينب قال: ⦗٢٨٦⦘ فقالت زينب: ما لي ولزيد؟ قال: فأرسل إليها (إني رسول) (١) رسول اللَّه ﷺ قال: فأذنت له فبشرها أن اللَّه زوجها من نبيه ﷺ، قال: فخرت ساجدة (شكرًا للَّه) (٢) (٣).
Hazrat Abu Salih (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When the marriage of Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) ended and Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) left, until he sought permission from Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Now what business does Zaid have with me? The narrator says: Hazrat Zaid (may Allah have mercy on him) sent a message to her that I have come as a messenger of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) granted him permission. Then he gave her the glad tidings that Allah Almighty has married you to His Prophet ﷺ. Upon hearing this, Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) fell into prostration to express gratitude.
Hadith 35057
٣٥٠٥٧ - حدثنا (هشيم) (١) قال: أخبرنا مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال: كان يكره سجدة (الفرح) (٢) ويقول: ليس فيها ركوع ولا سجود.
Hazrat Mughira (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) considered the prostration of joy and happiness to be disliked, and he used to say that there is neither bowing (ruku) nor prostration (sajda) in it.
Hadith 35058
٣٥٠٥٨ - حدثنا أبو أسامة قال: ثنا (إسماعيل) (١) بن (زربي) (٢) قال: حدثني الريان بن صبرة الحنفي أنه شهد يوم النهروان، قال: وكنت فيمن استخرج ذا الثدية فبشر به علي قبل أن ينتهي إليه، قال: فانتهى إليه وهو ساجد فرحًا (٣).
Hazrat Ismail bin Zurbi, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Rayyan bin Sabrah Hanafi, may Allah have mercy on him, was present in the Battle of Nahrawan. He, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I was among those people who brought out Dhu al-Thadiyya. Before he reached Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, had already received news of his coming. When we reached him, he was in prostration out of happiness. So, Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, was given the glad tidings of this before he left. He, may Allah have mercy on him, says that when we came to Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, he was performing prostration out of extreme happiness.
Hadith 35059
٣٥٠٥٩ - حدثنا زيد بن الحباب قال: أخبرنا موسى بن عبيدة عن قيس بن عبد الرحمن بن (أبي) (١) صعصعة عن سعد بن إبراهيم عن (أبيه) (٢) عن جده عبد الرحمن بن عوف قال: انتهيت إلى النبي ﷺ (وهو ساجد) (٣)، فلما انصرف ⦗٢٨٧⦘ قلت: يا رسول اللَّه أطلت السجود؟ قال: إني سجدت (شكرًا للَّه) (٤) فيما ابتلاني (من) (٥) أمتي (٦).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was in prostration. When he finished, I said: O Messenger of Allah! You performed a long prostration. He replied: I prostrated to express gratitude to Allah because He accepted the excuse of my Ummah.
