Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abi Dhi'b (may Allah have mercy on him) states that Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The wealth of the prisoner and his wife will be withheld until both are handed over or both die.

Imam Awza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) about a person who has been taken captive in enemy territory, that when can his wife remarry? He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: She cannot remarry as long as it is known that he is alive.
