Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Khallas (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding an apostate woman: Her value should be assessed. And Hazrat Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: She should be killed.

Hazrat Abu Razeen (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When women apostatize from Islam, they should not be killed; rather, they should be imprisoned and called towards Islam, and they should be compelled to accept Islam.

Hazrat Laith (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) stated regarding an apostate woman: that she will not be killed.

Hazrat Amr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A woman who becomes an apostate will not be killed.

Hazrat Ash'ath (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When women apostatize from Islam, they should not be killed. Rather, they should be invited to Islam. If they refuse, they should be imprisoned and made bondwomen of the Muslims, and they should not be killed.

Hazrat Abu Hurrah, may Allah have mercy on him, states that Hasan, may Allah have mercy on him, said regarding the woman who apostatizes from Islam: She will not be killed; she will be imprisoned.

Hazrat Ubaidah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The apostate woman will also be killed.

Hazrat Hisham (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding an apostate woman: She will be asked to repent. If she repents, then fine; otherwise, she will be killed.

Hazrat Yahya bin Saeed (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man's umm walad from among the Muslims became an apostate. So that man sold her at the place of Dumah al-Jandal to a person of a religion different from hers.

Hazrat Abu Ma'shar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) gave the following ruling regarding a woman who apostatizes from Islam: She will be asked to repent. If she accepts repentance, then fine; otherwise, she will be killed.

This statement of Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) is also narrated from Abu Ma'shar (may Allah have mercy on him) through this chain of transmission.
