Mention of the Delegation of Abd al-Qays
Hadith 34679
٣٤٦٧٩ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن أبي (جمرة) (١) عن ابن عباس إن وفد عبد القيس أتوا رسول اللَّه ﷺ فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "من الوفد أو من القوم؟ " قال: (قالوا) (٢): ربيعة، قال: "مرحبا بالوفد أو بالقوم غير خزايا ولا (ندامى) (٣) " (٤).
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that a delegation from the tribe of Abdul Qais came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Which delegation is this? Or he said: Who are you people? They replied: We are people from the tribe of Rabi’ah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Welcome to the delegation, or he said: Welcome to the people, who will neither be disgraced in this world nor will they be ashamed in the Hereafter.
Hadith 34680
٣٤٦٨٠ - حدثنا أبو نعيم عن عمر بن الوليد قال: حدثني شهاب بن عباد العصري أن أباه حدثه أن عمر بن الخطاب وقف عليهم بعرفات فقال: لمن هذه الأخبية؟ فقالوا: لعبد القيس، فدعا لهم واستغفر لهم (١).
Hazrat Abad Al-Asri, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, stopped at a place in the plain of Arafat and asked: Whose tents are these? People said: They belong to the tribe of Abdul Qais. So he, may Allah be pleased with him, prayed for them and sought forgiveness for them.
Hadith 34681
٣٤٦٨١ - حدثنا إسماعيل ابن علية عن يونس قال: ذَكَر عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكرة قال: قال أشج بني عصر: قال لي رسول اللَّه ﷺ: ["إن فيك لخلقين يحبهما اللَّه"، فقلت: ما هما؟ قال: "الحلم والحياء"، قال: قلت: أقديما كان في أو حديثًا؟ قال: "بل قديما"، قال: قلت: الحمد اللَّه الذي] (١) جبلني على خلقين يحبهما (٢).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakrah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ashajj Banu Asr said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Surely there are two qualities in you that Allah loves. I asked: Which two are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Forbearance and modesty. I asked: Are these qualities old in me or new? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, rather they are old. I said: Praise be to Allah who created in my nature two qualities which He loves.
