Hazrat Khalid al-Asri, may Allah have mercy on him, says that when Hazrat Salman, may Allah be pleased with him, came to us, we went to him so that we could learn the Holy Qur'an from him. He, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Surely the Qur'an is in Arabic. So you should learn it from an Arab. Thus, Hazrat Zaid bin Suhan, may Allah have mercy on him, used to teach us. When he made a mistake, Hazrat Salman, may Allah be pleased with him, would catch him on the mistake. And when he corrected it, he, may Allah be pleased with him, would say: By Allah! That is how it is.

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on the day of the Battle of Badr, set the ransom for an Arab at forty uqiyah, and the ransom for a slave at twenty uqiyah. And one uqiyah is equal to forty dirhams.

Hazrat Khursha, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Destruction will come upon the Arabs when the daughters of Persia's offspring reach maturity."

Hazrat Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever deceives the people of Arabia will not be included in my intercession, nor will he attain my love.

Hazrat Mustazil bin Husain (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was addressing us. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By the Lord of the Ka'bah! Indeed, I know when the people of Arabia will be destroyed. One of the Muslims stood up and asked: O Commander of the Faithful, when will these people be destroyed? He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: When their affairs are managed by a person who neither made any plans during the time of ignorance nor kept the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hazrat Husain Muzani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Surely, the example of the Arabs is like that of a noble camel which is obedient to its driver. Therefore, their leader should see in which direction he is guiding them. As for me, by the Lord of the Ka'bah! I will most certainly set them on the straight path.

Hazrat Qais (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Amr bin Ma'di Yakrib (may Allah have mercy on him) passed by us on the day of Qadisiyyah while we were in rows. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O group of Arabs! Become lions who attack fiercely. Indeed, a lion is unconcerned about its own state. Indeed, the Iranians are like that deer which has already been struck by a spear.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Kathir bin Salt (may Allah have mercy on him) says that one of our freed slaves married an Arab woman. So he was brought before Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) and help was sought against him. Upon this, he (may Allah have mercy on him) said: By Allah! Indeed, the slave of the family of Kathir has acted beyond his rank and his limit.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib states that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade Arabs from marrying slave women. He gave a ruling of six camels regarding Arabs who married slave women; men and women are equal in this matter, and the same ruling applies to the clients (mawali) when it is not known. Hazrat Zuhri states that Arabs and mawali are not equal in lineage.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Abi Razin (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his mother that it was very distressing for Hazrat Umm Jarir when any Arab person died. She was asked about this: O Umm Jarir! Indeed, we have seen that when any Arab person dies, it is very hard on you. She replied: I heard my master saying: that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, the destruction of the Arabs is a sign of the nearness of the Day of Judgment. And her master was Hazrat Talha bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him).
