Hadith 34385
Hazrat Abdul Mutlib bin Rabee’ah bin Harith bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while I was present with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Who has angered you?” He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is it with the people of Quraysh regarding us? When they meet each other, they meet with cheerful faces, but when they meet us, they are not like that.” The narrator says: Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry, so much so that his face turned red with anger and the vein between his eyes started throbbing. And when he (peace and blessings be upon him) would become angry, this vein would throb. When he (may Allah be pleased with him) left, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), faith will never enter the heart of a person until he loves you people for the sake of Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).” Then he said: “O people! Whoever hurts Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), indeed he has hurt me. Surely, a man’s uncle is like his father.”

Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Take care of my protection regarding Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). For indeed, among my forefathers, only he remains. And indeed, a man’s uncle is like his father.

Hazrat Abu al-Duha Muslim bin Subaih (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! We see unpleasantness on the faces of people. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These people will never attain goodness until they love you because of my kinship. O people of Banu Salhab, do you hope for my intercession while the people of Banu Abdul Muttalib do not?
