Hadith 34275
٣٤٢٧٥ - حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عوف عن عطية أبي (المعذل) (١) الطفاوي عن أبيه قال: أخبرتني أم سلمة أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ كان عندها في بيتها ذات يوم، فجاءت الخادم فقالت: علي وفاطمة بالسدة، فقال: "تنحي لي عن أهل بيتي"، فتنحت في ناحية البيت، فدخل علي وفاطمة وحسن وحسين فوضعهما في حجره، وأخذ عليًا بإحدى يديه فضمه إليه، وأخذ فاطمة باليد الأخرى فضمها إليه (وقبلهما) (٢)، وأغدف عليهم خميصة سوداء، ثم قال: "اللهم إليك لا إلى النار أنا وأهل بيتي"، قالت: فناديته فقلت: وأنا يا رسول اللَّه، قال: "وأنت" (٣).
Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was with me in my house. The maid came and said: Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) are at the door. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Make room for my family. So I moved to a corner of the house. Then Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), and Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) came in. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated both children in his lap. With one hand, he held Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) close to himself, and with the other hand, he held Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) close to himself and kissed her. He then covered all of them with his black cloak. Then he said: O Allah! We seek refuge with You, not with Hellfire, I and my family. Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I called out: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! What about me? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You too.
Hadith 34276
٣٤٢٧٦ - حدثنا (عبد اللَّه) (١) بن نمير عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد عن (أبي إسحاق عن) (٢) هبيرة بن يريم قال: سمعت الحسن بن علي قام خطيبًا فخطب الناس فقال: يا أيها الناس لقد فارقكم أمس رجل ما سبقه الأولون، ولا يدركه الآخرون، ولقد كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يبعثه المبعث فيعطيه الراية، فما يرجع حتى يفتح اللَّه عليه، جبريل عن يمينه وميكايل عن شماله، ما ترك بيضاء ولا صفراء إلا سبعمائة درهم فضلت من عطائه أراد أن يشتري بها خادما (٣).
Hazrat Abu Ishaq, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that Hazrat Hubaira bin Yareem, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Hazrat Hasan bin Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up to deliver a sermon and while addressing the people, said: O people! Yesterday, a person departed from you such that neither those before him could surpass him, nor will those after him attain his rank. Indeed, whenever the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent him with an army, he would grant him the flag, and he would not return until Allah Almighty granted him victory. Jibreel, peace be upon him, would be on his right side and Mikaeel, peace be upon him, on his left side. He did not leave behind any gold or silver except for seven dirhams, which I had kept from his charity, because he intended to buy a servant with them.
Hadith 34277
٣٤٢٧٧ - حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن عمرو بن مرة عن أبي حمزة مولى الأنصار عن زيد بن أرقم قال (١): أول من أسلم مع رسول اللَّه ﷺ علي (٢).
Hazrat Abu Hamza (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The first person to accept Islam with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Amr bin Murrah says: I went to Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) and mentioned this to him, but he denied it and said: The first person to accept Islam was Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). Hadith 34279
٣٤٢٧٩ - حدثنا شريك عن أبي إسحاق عن جبلة قال: كان النبي ﷺ إذا لم يغز أعطى سلاحه عليا (أو أسامة) (١) (٢).
Hazrat Abu Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Jabla (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not participate in a battle, he would entrust his weapons to either Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) or Hazrat Usama (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 34280
٣٤٢٨٠ - حدثنا مالك بن إسماعيل قال: ثنا (مسعود) (١) بن سعد قال: ثنا محمد ابن إسحاق عن الفضل بن معقل (٢) عن عبد اللَّه بن نيار الأسلمي عن عمرو بن (شاس) (٣) قال: قال لي رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "قد آذيتني"، قال: قلت: يا رسول اللَّه ما أحب أن أوذيك، قال: "من آذى عليا فقد آذاني" (٤).
Hazrat Amr bin Shas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Indeed, you have caused me harm." I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! I would never like to harm you!" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever has caused harm to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), indeed he has caused harm to me."
Hadith 34281
٣٤٢٨١ - حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان عن عبد الملك بن أبي سليمان قال: قلت لعطاء: كان في أصحاب رسول اللَّه ﷺ أحد أعلم من علي؟ قال: لا واللَّه، ما أعلمه.
Hazrat Abdul Malik bin Abi Sulaiman (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him): Was there anyone among the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) who was more knowledgeable than Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)? He (may Allah have mercy on him) replied: No, by Allah! I do not know anyone.
Hadith 34282
٣٤٢٨٢ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن أبي إسحاق عن عمرو بن حبشي قال: خطبنا الحسن بن علي بعد وفاة علي فقال: لقد فارقكم رجل بالأمس لم يسبقه ⦗٧٢⦘ الأولون بعلم ولا يدركه الآخرون، كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يعطيه الراية فلا ينصرف حتى يفتح اللَّه عليه (١).
Hazrat Amr bin Hubshi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) addressed us after the demise of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): Indeed, yesterday that person has departed from you whose knowledge the people before him could not attain, nor will those after him be able to attain. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to grant him the flag, and he would not return until Allah Almighty granted him victory.
Hadith 34283
٣٤٢٨٣ - حدثنا يحيى بن يعلى عن يونس بن خباب عن أنس قال: خرجت أنا وعلي مع رسول اللَّه ﷺ في (حائط) (١) المدينة، فمررنا بحديقة، فقال (علي) (٢): ما أحسن هذه الحديقة يا رسول اللَّه؟ قال: فقال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "حديقتك في الجنة أحسن منها يا علي"، حتى مر بسبع حدائق، كل ذلك يقول علي: ما أحسن هذه الحديقة يا رسول اللَّه، فيقول: "حديقتك في الجنة أحسن (من هذه) (٣) " (٤).
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) into the gardens of Madinah. As we passed by a garden, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! How beautiful is this garden? Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)! The garden you have in Paradise is many times more beautiful than this. Until we passed by seven gardens, and at each place Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! How beautiful is this garden? And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying: The garden you have in Paradise is many times more beautiful than this.
Hadith 34284
٣٤٢٨٤ - حدثنا معاوية بن هشام قال: ثنا قيس عن سلمة بن كهيل عن أبي صادق عن عليم عن سلمان قال: إن أول هذه الأمة ورودا على نبيها أولها إسلامًا علي بن أبي طالب (١).
It is narrated from Al-'Alim that Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Indeed, the very first person from this Ummah who will enter upon his Prophet ﷺ will be the one who first accepted Islam, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 34285
٣٤٢٨٥ - حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير عن فطر عن أبي إسحاق عن أبي عبد اللَّه الجدلي قال: قالت لي أم سلمة: يا أبا عبد اللَّه أيسب رسول اللَّه ﷺ فيكم ثم لا تغيرون؟ قال: قلت: ومن يسب رسول اللَّه ﷺ؟ قالت: يُسبُّ عليٌ ومن يحبه، وقد ⦗٧٣⦘ كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ (١) يحبه (٢).
Hazrat Abu Abdullah Jadali (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me: O Abu Abdullah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is being reviled among you, yet you people do not feel any zeal/honor? He (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked: Who can revile the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? She (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and those who love him are reviled. And indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to love him.
Hadith 34286
٣٤٢٨٦ - حدثنا خالد بن مخلد عن ابن فضيل عن أبي نصر عن مساور الحميري عن أمه عن أم سلمة قالت: سمعت رسول اللَّه ﷺ يقول: "لا يبغض عليًا مؤمن، ولا يحبه منافق" (١).
Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "No believer will harbor enmity towards Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and no hypocrite will love Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)."
Hadith 34287
٣٤٢٨٧ - حدثنا معاوية بن هشام قال: ثنا (عمار) (١) عن الأعمش عن المنهال عن عبد اللَّه بن الحارث عن علي قال: إنما مثلنا في هذه الأمة كسفينة نوح و (كتاب) (٢) حطة في بني إسرائيل (٣).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Harith (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Surely, our example in this Ummah is like the Ark of Hazrat Nuh (peace be upon him). And like the Door of Forgiveness found among the Children of Israel.
Hadith 34288
٣٤٢٨٨ - حدثنا إسحاق بن منصور (عن) (١) سليمان بن قرم عن عاصم عن (زر) (٢) قال: قال علي: لا يحبنا منافق، ولا يبغضنا مؤمن (٣).
Hazrat Zir narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No hypocrite will ever love us, and no believer will ever harbor enmity against us.
Hadith 34289
٣٤٢٨٩ - حدثنا أبو أسامة قال: حدثني محمد بن طلحة (١) عن أبي عبيدة بن الحكم الأزدي يرفع حديثه أن النبي ﷺ قال لعلي: " (٢) ستلقى بعدي جهدًا"، قال: ⦗٧٤⦘ يا رسول اللَّه في سلامة في ديني؟ قال: "نعم في سلامة من دينك" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Ubaidah bin Hakam Al-Azdi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates a marfu’ hadith that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "Soon after me, you will strive." He (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Will this striving be for the safety of my religion?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes! It will be for the protection of your religion."
Hadith 34290
٣٤٢٩٠ - حدثنا عفان قال: ثنا حماد بن سلمة قال: أخبرنا علي بن زيد عن عدي بن ثابت عن البراء قال: عنا مع رسول اللَّه ﷺ في سفر، قال: فنزلنا بغدير خم قال: فنودي الصلاة جامعة، وكسح لرسول اللَّه ﷺ تحت شجرة (فصلى) (١) الظهر فأخذ بيد علي فقال: "ألستم تعلمون أني أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم"، قالوا: بلى، قال: "ألستم تعلمون أني أولى (بكل) (٢) (مؤمن) (٣) من (نفسه) (٤) "، قالوا: (بلى) (٥) قال: فأخذ بيد علي فقال: "اللهم من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه، اللهم وال من والاه وعاد من عاداه"، قال: فلقيه عمر بعد ذلك فقال: هنيئا لك يا ابن أبي طالب، أصبحت وأمسيت مولى كل مؤمن ومؤمنة (٦).
Hazrat Adi bin Thabit (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We camped at the place of Ghadir Khumm. Then a call was made: Gather for prayer. And a place was cleared under a tree for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he led us in the Zuhr prayer. After that, he took the hand of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Do you not know that I am more entitled to the believers than their own selves? The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: Yes, indeed! The narrator says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the hand of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: O Allah! Whomever I am his friend, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is also his friend. O Allah! Befriend whoever befriends him, and be the enemy of whoever is hostile to him. The narrator says: After this, Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) met him and said: O son of Abu Talib! Congratulations to you. You have become the friend of every believing man and believing woman, morning and evening.
Hadith 34291
٣٤٢٩١ - حدثنا أبو الجواب قال: حدثنا يونس بن أبي إسحاق عن (أبي إسحاق) (١) (البراء) (٢) بن عازب قال: بعث رسول اللَّه ﷺ جيشين، على أحدهما علي بن أبي طالب، وعلى الآخر خالد بن الوليد، فقال: (إن كان (قتال) (٣) فعلي ⦗٧٥⦘ على الناس"، فافتتح (علي) (٤) حصنًا، فاتخذ جارية لنفسه، فكتب خالد (بسوأته) (٥)، فلما قرأ رسول اللَّه ﷺ الكتاب قال: "ما تقول في رجل (يحب اللَّه ورسوله) (٦)، ويحبه اللَّه ورسوله؟ " (٧).
Hazrat Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent two armies, appointing Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of one and Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) as the commander of the other. Then he said: If there is fighting, then in that case Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) will be the commander over the people. So Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) conquered the fort and chose a slave woman for himself. Upon this, Hazrat Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter and informed the Prophet ﷺ about this matter. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) read this letter, he said: What do you say about a person who loves Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, and Allah and His Messenger ﷺ love him?
Hadith 34292
٣٤٢٩٢ - حدثنا وكيع قال: ثنا الأعمش عن عطية بن سعد قال: دخلنا على جابر بن عبد اللَّه وهو شيخ كبير وقد سقط حاجباه على عينيه قال: فقلت أخبرنا عن هذا الرجل علي بن أبي طالب قال: فرفع حاجبيه بيديه ثم قال: ذاك من خير البشر (١).
Hazrat Atiyyah bin Saeed (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that we went to the service of Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) at a time when he was very old and his eyelashes were drooping over his eyes. The narrator says: I said to him, "Please tell us about that person, i.e., Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him)." So he (may Allah be pleased with him) lifted both his eyelids with his hand and then said: "He is indeed the best of mankind."
Hadith 34293
٣٤٢٩٣ - حدثنا عفان قال: ثنا جعفر بن سليمان قال: حدثني يزيد الرشك عن مطرف عن عمران بن حصين قال: بعث رسول اللَّه ﷺ سرية واستعمل عليهم عليًا، فصنع علي شيئا أنكروه، فتعاقد أربعة من أصحاب رسول اللَّه صلى اللَّه عليه (وسلم) (١) (أن يعلموه) (٢)، (وكانوا إذا قدموا من سفر بدأوا برسول اللَّه ﷺ) (٣)، فسلموا عليه ونظروا إليه، ثم ينصرفون إلى رحالهم قال: فلما قدمت السرية سلموا على رسول اللَّه ﷺ (٤) فقام أحد الأربعة فقال: يا رسول اللَّه ألم تر أن ⦗٧٦⦘ عليًا صنع كذا وكذا، فأقبل إليه رسول اللَّه يعرف الغضب في وجهه فقال: "ما تريدون من علي ما تريدون من علي؟ علي مني وأنا من علي، وعلي ولي كل مؤمن بعدي" (٥).
Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent an army and appointed Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as their commander. Then Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) did something which the people disliked. So four people from among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made a pact that they would mention this matter before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And when these people returned from the journey, they intended to inform the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So they greeted him and looked towards him, then the people turned back to their saddles. The narrator says: When all the people of the army had come and greeted the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), one of these four stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! What is your opinion about Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), for he has done such and such a thing? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards that person, and signs of anger were visible on his face. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What do you want from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)? What do you want from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)? Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is from me and I am from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and after me, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is the friend of every believer.
Hadith 34294
٣٤٢٩٤ - حدثنا جعفر بن عون قال: ثنا (شقيق) (١) بن أبي عبد اللَّه قال: حدثنا أبو بكر بن خالد بن عُرْفُطَة قال: أتيت سعد بن مالك بالمدينة فقال: ذكر لي أنكم تسبون عليًا؟ قال: قد فعلنا، قال: فلعلك قد سببته؟ قال: قلت: معاذ اللَّه، قال: فلا تسبه، فلو وضع المنشار على مفرقي على أن أسب عليًا ما سببته أبدًا، بعد ما سمعت من رسول اللَّه ﷺ ما سمعت (٢).
Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Khalid bin Urfatah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I came to Hazrat Sa’d bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) in Madinah, and he said: It has been mentioned to me that you people abuse Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)? He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes! He (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Perhaps you also abuse him? I replied: I seek refuge with Allah! He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Never abuse him. So, even if a saw is placed on the middle of my head for me to abuse Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), I will never abuse him after hearing that hadith which I have heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 34295
٣٤٢٩٥ - حدثنا حميد بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه عن أبي إسحاق (عمن حدثه عن) (١) ميمونة (قال) (٢): لما كانت الفرقة قيل لميمونة ابنة الحارث: يا أم المؤمنين، فقالت: عليكم بابن أبي طالب فواللَّه ما ضل ولا ضل به (٣).
Hazrat Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the time of separation came, it was said to Maymunah bint Harith: O Mother of the Believers! Hold fast to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). By Allah, neither is he misguided nor has anyone gone astray because of him.
Hadith 34296
٣٤٢٩٦ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسماعيل عن الشعبي: ﴿أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ الْحَاجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ﴾ [التوبة: ١٩]، قال: نزلت في علي والعباس (١).
Ismail (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Imam Shabi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This verse of the Quran { أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَایَۃَ الْحَاجِّ وَعِمَارَۃَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ } was revealed regarding Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 34297
٣٤٢٩٧ - حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن إدريس عن ليث عن مجاهد قال: قال علي: إنه لم يعمل بها أحد قبلي ولا يعمل بها أحد بعدي، كان لي دينار فبعته بعشرة دراهم فكنت إذا ناجيت رسول اللَّه ﷺ تصدقت بدرهم، حتى نفدت ثم تلا هذه الآية: ﴿يَاأَيُّهَا (الَّذِينَ) (١) آمَنُوا إِذَا نَاجَيْتُمُ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَةً﴾ (٢) [المجادلة: ١٢].
Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: There is one verse upon which neither anyone before me acted nor will anyone after me act upon it. I had one dinar which I sold for ten dirhams. Whenever I would converse privately with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would give one dirham in charity, until those dirhams were finished. Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: O you who believe! When you wish to converse privately with the Messenger, then before your private conversation, present some charity.
Hadith 34298
٣٤٢٩٨ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم قال: ثنا (عبيد) (١) اللَّه الأشجعي عن سفيان بن (سعيد) (٢) عن عثمان بن المغيرة الثقفي عن سالم بن أبي الجعد عن علي ابن علقمة الأنماري عن علي قال: لما نزلت (هذه الآية) (٣): ﴿يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نَاجَيْتُمُ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَةً﴾، قال: قال لي رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "ما (ترى!) (٤) دينار؟ " قلت: لا (يطيقونه) (٥)، قال: "فكم؟ " قلت: شعيرة، قال: ⦗٧٨⦘ "إنك لزهيد"، قال: فنزلت: ﴿أَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَنْ تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ (يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ) (٦) صَدَقَاتٍ﴾، (الآية) (٧) قال: (فبه) (٨) (خفف) (٩) اللَّه عن هذه الأمة (١٠).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Alqamah Anmari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When this verse was revealed: O you who believe! When you wish to speak privately with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then present some charity before your private conversation. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: What is your opinion? Is one dinar sufficient? I submitted: People do not have the means for that much. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Then how much should it be? I submitted: Let a small amount of barley be fixed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, that is very little. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: In the meantime, another verse was revealed: Translation: Are you afraid of presenting charity before your private conversation? (the verse continues). He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Thus, because of me, Allah made it easy for this Ummah.
Hadith 34299
٣٤٢٩٩ - حدثنا خلف بن خليفة عن أبي هارون قال: كنت مع ابن عمر جالسًا إذ جاءه نافع بن الأزرق فقام على رأسه فقال: (واللَّه إني) (١) لأبغض عليًا، قال: فرفع إليه ابن عمر رأسه فقال: أبغضك اللَّه، تبغض رجلًا سابقة من سوابقه خير من (الدنيا) (٢) وما فيها (٣).
Hazrat Abu Haroon (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I was sitting with Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) when suddenly Nafi’ bin Azraq came and, standing over his head, said: By Allah! I bear enmity towards Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). The narrator says that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) raised his head and said: May Allah also bear enmity towards you, because you bear enmity towards such a person who is foremost, and better than the world and all that is in it.
Hadith 34300
٣٤٣٠٠ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن (فطر) (١) عن أبي الطفيل عن رجل من أصحاب النبي ﷺ قال: لقد جاء في علي من المناقب ما لو أن منقبا منها قسم بين الناس لأوسعهم خيرا (٢).
Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that one of the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: So many excellent qualities are combined in Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that if even one of these qualities were distributed among the people, it would be exceedingly vast in terms of goodness.
Hadith 34301
٣٤٣٠١ - حدثنا خلف بن خليفة عن حجاج بن دينار عن معاوية بن قرة قال: عنت أنا والحسن جالسين نتحدث إذ ذكر الحسن عليًا فقال: أراهم السبيل، وأقام لهم الدين (إذ) (١) اعوج (٢).
Hazrat Muawiyah bin Qurrah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) and I were sitting and talking when Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: He (may Allah be pleased with him) was the most upright among the people and the one who would straighten the religion of the people when crookedness would appear in it.
Hadith 34302
٣٤٣٠٢ - حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن الحر بن (صياح) (١) عن عبد الرحمن بن الأخنس عن (سعيد) (٢) بن زيد قال: سمعت رسول اللَّه ﷺ يقول: "علي في الجنة" (٣).
Hazrat Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is in Paradise.
Hadith 34303
٣٤٣٠٣ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن شريك عن أبي إسحاق قال: قالت فاطمة: يا رسول اللَّه زوجتني حمش الساقين عظيم البطن أعمش العين، قال: "زوجتك أقدم أمتي سلمًا، وأعظمهم حلمًا، وأكثرهم علمًا" (١).
Hazrat Abu Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! You married me to a person who has weak shins, a large belly, and weak eyesight. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have married you to a person who is the most inclined towards reconciliation, the most forbearing, and the most knowledgeable among my Ummah.
Hadith 34304
٣٤٣٠٤ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن ابن أبي (غنية) (١) عن الحكم عن سعيد ابن جبير عن ابن عباس (عن بريدة) (٢) قال: مررت مع علي إلى اليمن فرأيت منه جفوة، فلما قدمت على رسول اللَّه ﷺ ذكرت عليًا (فتنقصته) (٣)، فجعل وجه رسول اللَّه ﷺ يتغير، فقال: "ألست أولى بالمؤمنين من أنفسهم؟ " قلت: بلى يا رسول اللَّه، قال: "من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه" (٤).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Hazrat Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I went to Yemen to fight along with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). So I noticed some excess in him. When I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I mentioned Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and described his fault. Upon this, the color of the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) changed, and he said: Am I not more entitled to the believers than their own selves? I said: Why not, O Messenger of Allah! Certainly. He said: Whoever I am a friend to, then Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is also his friend.
Hadith 34305
٣٤٣٠٥ - حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن أبي التياح عن أبي السوار العدوي قال: قال علي: ليحبني قوم حتى يدخلوا (النار) (١) في حبي، وليبغضني (قوم) (٢) حتى يدخلوا النار في بغضي (٣).
Hazrat Abu al-Sawwar al-Adawi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Surely, there will be some people who will love me so excessively that, because of their love for me, they will enter Hell; and surely, there will be some people who will bear enmity towards me so excessively that, because of their enmity towards me, they will enter Hell.
Hadith 34306
٣٤٣٠٦ - حدثنا وكيع عن حماد عن بن أبي نجيح (عن أبي التياح) (١) عن أبي ⦗٨١⦘ (حِبَرة) (٢) قال: سمعت عليًا يقول: (يهلك) (٣) فيّ رجلان: مفرط في حبي، ومفرط في بغضي (٤).
Hazrat Abu Hubaira (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Two types of people will fall into destruction because of me. One who exceeds the limits in loving me, and the other who exceeds the limits in bearing enmity towards me.
Hadith 34307
٣٤٣٠٧ - حدثنا عفان قال: ثنا حماد بن سلمة عن سماك عن أنس أن النبي ﷺ بعث ببراءة مع أبي بكر إلى مكة فدعاه فبعث عليًا فقال: "لا يبلغها إلا رجل من أهل بيتي" (١).
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to Makkah with the verses of Surah Taubah. Then he called Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and sent him as well, and said: Only a person from my household will deliver these verses.
Hadith 34308
٣٤٣٠٨ - حدثنا وكيع عن نعيم بن (حكيم) (١) عن أبي مريم قال: سمعت عليًا يقول: (يهلك) (٢) في رجلان: مفرط في حبي، ومفرط في بغضي (٣).
Hazrat Abu Maryam (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I heard Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "Two types of people will fall into destruction because of me. One is the person who exceeds limits in loving me, and the other is the person who exceeds limits in harboring enmity against me."
Hadith 34309
٣٤٣٠٩ - حدثنا أبو الجواب عن يونس (عن) (١) أبي إسحاق عن زيد بن (يثيع) (٢) عن أبي ذر قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "لينتهين (٣) أو لأبعثن إليهم رجلًا ⦗٨٢⦘ كنفسي فيمضي فيهم أمري، فيقتل المقاتلة ويسبي الذرية" (٤).
Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Surely, the tribe of Banu Wali’ah must desist, or he said: Surely, I will certainly send to them a man who will enforce my command among them. He will fight those who fight (against him) and will take their offspring as captives.
Hadith 34310
٣٤٣١٠ - حدثنا مطلب بن زياد عن السدي قال: صعد علي المنبر فقال: اللهم العن كل مبغض لنا، قال: وكل محب لنا غال (١).
Hazrat Suddi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) ascended the pulpit and said: O Allah! Send Your curse upon every person who harbors enmity towards us, and upon every person who is excessive in love for us.
Hadith 34311
٣٤٣١١ - حدثنا مطلب بن زياد عن ليث قال: دخلت على أبي جعفر (فذكر) (١) ذنوبه وما يخاف، قال: فبكى، ثم قال: حدثني جابر أن عليًا حمل الباب يوم خيبر حتى صعد المسلمون ففتحوها، وأنه جرب فلم يحمله إلا أربعون رجلًا (٢).
Hazrat Laith (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I came to Hazrat Abu Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him), then he mentioned sins and began to weep out of fear. Then he said: Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me: Indeed, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) lifted the door on the day of Khaybar until the Muslims climbed the fortress and they conquered the fortress, and indeed it was tried, but none could lift that door except forty men.
Hadith 34312
٣٤٣١٢ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن واقد بن محمد بن زيد عن أبيه عن ابن عمر عن أبي بكر قال: يا أيها الناس أرقبوا محمدا ﷺ في أهل بيته (١).
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O people! Take care of the household of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Hadith 34313
٣٤٣١٣ - حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير عن حجاج عن الحكم عن مقسم عن ابن عباس أن النبي ﷺ (١) قال لعلي: "أنت أخي وصاحبي" (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): Surely, you are my brother and my companion.
Hadith 34314
٣٤٣١٤ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر قال: (سمعت أبا مكين) (١) عن (خاله) (٢) ⦗٨٣⦘ (أبي) (٣) أمية أن عليًا مر على دار في (مراد) (٤) (يبنى) (٥) فسقطت (عليه) (٦) كسرة لبنة أو قطعة لبنة، فدعا اللَّه أن لا يتم (بناءها) (٧)، قال: فما وضع فيها لبنة على لبنة (٨).
Hazrat Abu Makin (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that his maternal uncle Hazrat Abu Umayyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was passing by a house at Maqam-e-Murad which was under construction, when a piece of brick fell on him. He (may Allah be pleased with him) prayed to Allah that its construction may not be completed. The narrator says that after that, not a single brick was placed upon another in that house.
Hadith 34315
٣٤٣١٥ - حدثنا مطلب بن زياد عن جابر قال: كنا مع أبي جعفر في المسجد وغلام ينظر إلى أبي جعفر ويبكي، فقال له أبو جعفر: ما يبكيك؟ قال: من حبكم، قال: نظرت حيث نظر اللَّه، واخترت من خيره اللَّه.
Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we were in the mosque with Hazrat Abu Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) when a boy was looking at Hazrat Abu Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him) and was crying. So Abu Ja'far (may Allah have mercy on him) said to him: What has made you cry? He replied: Your love among the people has made me cry. He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: You have seen where Allah has seen. And you have chosen the person whom Allah has chosen.
