Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abi Najih states that Hazrat Mujahid said: I recited the Qur'an to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) three times.

Hazrat Aban bin Salih narrates that Hazrat Mujahid said: I recited the entire Quran from beginning to end three times before Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). I would pause at every verse while reciting.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to complete a recitation of the Holy Qur'an once every Ramadan, except for the year in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away. In that year, he (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the recitation twice in the presence of Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): thus, he knew which verse was abrogated and which verse was changed.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to review the Holy Qur'an with Hazrat Jibreel every Ramadan. So, in the month in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he reviewed it twice.

Hazrat Musa bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard my father saying: I stayed with Hazrat Fadala bin Ubaid to listen to his recitation of the Qur'an until he had completed it.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin narrates that Hazrat Ubaidah said: The recitation which the Prophet (peace be upon him) recited in the year of his passing is the same recitation that people recite today.

Hazrat Hisham states that Hazrat Ibn Sirin said: Hazrat Jibreel used to review the Qur'an with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once every year in Ramadan. Then, in the year in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he reviewed the Qur'an with him twice.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Hazrat Fatima said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to review the Qur'an with Hazrat Jibreel once every year. But in the year in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he reviewed it with him twice.
