Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Umm Ayyub narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Qur'an has been revealed on seven letters; whichever letter you recite with, you will be correct.

Hazrat Amr narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Qur'an was revealed upon seven letters. Each of them is sufficient and complete.

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Qur'an was revealed upon seven letters; He is Allah, the All-Knowing, the Wise, the Forgiving, and the Merciful.

Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Verily, my Lord has sent a messenger to me that I should recite the Qur'an on seven modes.

Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b narrates that Hazrat Jibreel came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Allah commands you to recite the Qur'an to your Ummah on seven letters. Thus, whichever letter they recite with, they will be correct.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The Quran was revealed upon seven letters.

Hazrat Abu Bakr narrates that Hazrat Jibreel said to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Recite the Qur'an on one mode. Then Hazrat Mikaeel said to him: Increase in it. So Hazrat Jibreel said: Recite it on two modes! Then Mikaeel said: Increase in it, until it reached seven modes. Each of them is sufficient and complete, just as your saying "Halumma" and "Ta'al"—both have the same meaning: "Come." As long as he does not complete a verse of mercy with a verse of punishment, nor a verse of punishment with a verse of mercy.

Hazrat Abi narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite the Qur'an on seven letters; each letter is sufficient and complete.

Hazrat Sulaiman bin Surad narrates from Hazrat Abi that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite it upon seven letters.

Hazrat Samurah narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Qur'an has been revealed upon three letters.

Hazrat Umar bin Khattab narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Indeed, the Qur'an has been revealed upon seven modes. So recite it in whichever way is easy for you.

Hazrat Abi states that Hazrat Jibreel met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and said: Command your Ummah to recite the Qur'an on seven modes.
