What to Say When the Mu'adhin Says: I Bear Witness That There Is No God but Allah, I Bear Witness That Muhammad ﷺ Is the Messenger of Allah
Hadith 31871
٣١٨٧١ - حدثنا أبو أسامة قال: حدثني عبد اللَّه بن الوليد عن زياد عن الحسن ⦗٣٧٨⦘ قال: من قال إذا قال: المؤذن أشهد أن لا إله إلا اللَّه (و) (١) أشهد أن محمدًا رسول اللَّه: (وأنا (أشهد) (٢) مع) (٣) من شهد، كان له أجر من شهد ومن لم يشهد.
Hazrat Ziyad narrates that Hasan said: Whoever recites these words at the time when the muezzin says: I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, I bear witness that indeed Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah—then suffice for me is the one who denies, and I bear witness along with the one who bears witness. For the one who says this, the reward will be equal to both those who bear witness and those who do not.
