Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Saeed narrates that Hazrat Abu Hurairah would stand to lead the prayer for a newborn child who had not committed any sin. Then he would supplicate as follows: O Allah! Save this child from the punishment of Hell.

Hazrat Jubair narrates that Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu’bah said: In the case of a stillborn child, prayers for well-being and mercy should be made for the parents of the child.

Hazrat Sufyan bin Husain narrates that Hazrat Hasan used to supplicate in this way: O Allah! Make this child a means of provision for us, a cause of reward, and one who will be of help at the right time.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Jahash narrates that I heard Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub saying this when one of his small children had died. So he said: Take him and bury him. And do not perform his funeral prayer. Because there is no sin upon him. And pray to Allah for his parents that He makes this child a means of reward, a provision for the future, and a source of benefit for them at the right time.
