Hadith 31783
٣١٧٨٣ - حدثنا جرير بن عبد الحميد (عن عبد العزيز بن) (١) رفيع عن أبي صالح قال: لدغ رجل من الأنصار فلما أصبح أتى النبي ﷺ فقال: يا رسول اللَّه ما ⦗٣٤٧⦘ زلت البارحة ساهرًا من لدغة عقرب (فقال) (٢) النبي ﷺ: "أما إنك لو قلت حين أمسيت: أعوذ بكلمات اللَّه التامة من شر ما خلق، ما ضرك عقرب حتى تصبح" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Salih narrates that a man from the Ansar was stung by a scorpion. When morning came, he went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I remained awake the whole night because of the scorpion’s sting! The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you had recited these words in the evening, “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of His creation,” then the scorpion could not have harmed you until morning. Abu Salih says: So I taught these words to my son and daughter, and then both of them were stung by a scorpion. And they did not suffer any harm.
Hadith 31785
٣١٧٨٥ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال: أخبرنا هشام بن حسان عن (سهيل) (١) ابن أبي صالح عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "من قال: حين يمسي ثلاث مرات: أعوذ بكلمات اللَّه التامة من شر ما خلق، لم يضره لسعة تلك الليلة" (٢).
Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever recites these words three times in the evening: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of His creation," then nothing can harm him that night. Hazrat Suhail says: Reciting these words became a habit for his family. Then a woman was stung, but she did not feel even the slightest pain.
Hadith 31787
٣١٧٨٧ - حدثنا (عبد الرحيم) (١) بن سليمان عن حجاج عن الزهري عن طارق ⦗٣٤٨⦘ ابن أبي (مخاشن) (٢) عن أبي هريرة قال: أتي رسول اللَّه ﷺ برجل قد لدغته عقرب فقال: أما إنه لو قال: "أعوذ بكلمات اللَّه التامة من شر ما خلق، لم يلدغ أو لم يضره" (٣).
Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that a man was brought to the service of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who had been stung by a scorpion. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: In any case, if he had recited these words: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of His creation, then he would not have been stung, or he said: he would not have been harmed.
Hadith 31788
٣١٧٨٨ - حدثنا عبد الرحيم بن سليمان عن مطرف عن المنهال بن عمرو عن محمد بن علي (١) قال: بينما رسول اللَّه ﷺ ذات ليلة يصلي فوضع يده على الأرض فلدغته عقرب فتناولها رسول اللَّه ﷺ بنعله فقتلها، فلما انصرف قال: "أخزى اللَّه العقرب، ما تدع مصليا ولا غيره (ولا) (٢) مؤمنا ولا غيره (٣) "، ثم دعا بملح وماء فجعله في إناء وجعل يصبه على إصبعه حيث لدغته ويمسحها ويعوذها بالمعوذتين (٤).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one night the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing prayer. During this, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on the ground, a scorpion stung him (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took his sandal and killed it. When he finished the prayer, he said: May Allah disgrace the scorpion! It does not spare a person in prayer nor anyone else, or he said: It does not spare a believer nor anyone else. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for salt and water, then put the salt in a vessel, and with his finger kept applying and rubbing it on the stung area. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the Mu'awwidhatayn (the last two chapters of the Qur'an) and blew over it.
Hadith 31789
٣١٧٨٩ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن القعقاع عن إبراهيم قال: رقية العقرب شجة (قرنية) (١) ملحة بحر قفطا.
Hazrat Qaqa’ says that Ibrahim says: The amulet for protection from a scorpion’s sting is as follows: Shajjatun Qarniyyatun Maliḥatun Bahr Qifta.
Hadith 31790
٣١٧٩٠ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن المغيرة عن إبراهيم عن الأسود قال: عرضتها على عائشة فقالت: هذه مواثيق (١).
Ibrahim narrates that Aswad said: I presented these words to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and she said: These are words of covenant and affirmation.
