Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair narrates that Hazrat Abu Hayyaj Al-Asadi said: I heard an old man who was performing Tawaf around the Ka'bah and making this supplication: O Allah! Save me from the miserliness of my soul. So I did not know who that old man was. Then when he was about to leave, I followed him. I inquired about him, and people informed me: This is Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf.

Hazrat Thumamah bin Hazn narrates that I heard an old man supplicating in this way: O Allah! I seek refuge in You from that evil with which no one else has been associated. Hazrat Thumamah says that I asked: Who is this old man? The people said: Hazrat Abu Darda.
