Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sa'd narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Surely, a time will soon come when people will exceed limits in supplication.

Hazrat Abu Naamah narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal heard his son making the following supplication: "O Allah! I ask You for a palace of white pearls on the right side of Paradise when I enter it." So he said: "O my son! Ask Allah for Paradise, and seek Allah's protection from Hellfire. For indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Soon there will be people who will be excessive in their supplications."
