Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdul Malik bin Umair narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: For a man to say to another man, "O wicked one, O sinner," he (Ali) said, these are bad words and there will be punishment for this, and he should not say these words, lest he becomes accustomed to them.

Hasan Basri narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq, regarding the man who said to another man: "O wicked one, O sinner," said: Indeed, this person has spoken badly, but there will be neither punishment nor prescribed penalty in this.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Ishaq narrates that I was present with Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Qasim bin Abdur Rahman when the governor of the city asked both of them about a man who had said to another: "O sinner (fasiq), what is the ruling about this?" Both of them recited this verse: "If a sinner (fasiq) brings you any news, investigate it thoroughly." Both of them said: Fasiq means liar; this person will be given lashes less than the prescribed legal limit.

Hazrat Abu Zubair narrates that it is reported from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah regarding the person who says to a man: "O wicked one," he (Jabir) said: This is a bad thing, and there will be no punishment for it.
