Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mughira narrates that it is reported from Hazrat Hammad regarding the man who disappeared from his wife and did not have intercourse with her, yet the woman became pregnant or brought forth a child. He said: If his disappearance was to a distant region, then the woman's claim will not be accepted and the prescribed punishment will be established upon her. But if he disappeared to a nearby region, it will be assumed that he used to come to her in secret, so the woman's claim regarding the child will be accepted, that the child is from her husband.
