Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ata bin Yasar narrates that Ma'iz bin Malik came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and confessed to committing adultery himself. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "With whom?" He replied, "With such-and-such woman who is the slave of the son of so-and-so." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a messenger to that woman, but she denied it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) let the woman go and detained the one who had confessed to adultery himself, and it was not mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) imposed the punishment for false accusation (qadhf) upon him.

Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that it is reported from Hasan Basri about a man who said: I have committed adultery with such-and-such woman. He (Hasan Basri) said: The prescribed punishment (hadd) will be applied to this man because of that woman.

Hazrat Salih bin Muslim narrates that it is reported from Hazrat Sha’bi regarding a man who said to a woman: “Indeed, I have committed adultery with you.” He (Sha’bi) said: I will punish him for falsely accusing this woman, but I will not punish this person for accusing himself unless there is evidence.

Hazrat Saeed narrates that Hazrat Qatadah said: He will be given lashes for two punishments. I asked: If his lie becomes evident? He replied: He will be given lashes for one punishment, and the other punishment will be waived from him.

Hazrat Mansur narrates that Ibrahim said: When a woman says, "So-and-so committed adultery with me," then neither should that woman be flogged nor should that so-and-so be flogged.
