Regarding the Woman: How Should She Be Stoned and How Large Should the Pit Be?
Hadith 30724
٣٠٧٢٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن زكريا أبي عمران قال: سمعت شيخًا يحدث عن (ابن) (١) أبي بكرة عن أبيه أن النبي ﷺ رجم امرأة فحفر (لها) (٢) إلى (الثندوة) (٣) (٤).
Hazrat Abu Bakrah narrates that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a woman to be stoned, he had a pit dug for her up to her chest.
Hadith 30725
٣٠٧٢٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد القطان عن مجالد عن عامر أن عليا رجم امرأة فحفر له إلى السرة، و (أنا) (١) شاهد ذلك (٢).
Hazrat Aamir narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) stoned a woman to death, so he had a pit dug for her up to her navel, and I am a witness to this.
Hadith 30726
٣٠٧٢٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير عن بشير بن المهاجر قال: حدثني عبد اللَّه بن بريدة عن أبيه أن النبي ﷺ (١) أتته الغامدية فأقرت عنده بالزنا، فأمر بها فحفر لها إلى صدرها، وأمر الناس (فرجموا) (٢)، ثم أمر بها فصلى عليها، ثم دفنت (٣).
Hazrat Buraidah narrates that a woman from the tribe of Ghamid came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and confessed to committing adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave orders regarding her, so a pit was dug for her up to her chest. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed the people, and they stoned her. Then, by the order of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), her funeral prayer was offered and she was buried.
