Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim said: It is in the case of striking.

Hadrat Ata bin Saib narrates that Hadrat Shabi said: Do not let gentleness overtake you in administering punishment.

Hazrat Imran bin Hadeer narrates that Hazrat Abu Majliz, regarding the verse: "And do not let compassion for them overtake you in the matter of Allah's religion" __QUR_N__, said: The punishments are to be carried out when the matter has been presented before the ruler.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata and Hazrat Mujahid regarding the saying of Allah, the Lord of Majesty, { وَلاَ تَأْخُذْکُمْ بِہِمَا رَأْفَۃٌ فِی دِینِ اللہِ }, that both of these personalities said: Not in (cases of) murder, but there should be no leniency in enforcing the prescribed punishment (hadd).

Hazrat Hajjaj says that Hazrat Ata stated: In the establishment of the hadd (prescribed punishment), in any case, harshness is not intended in flogging.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Najeeh narrates that regarding the saying of Allah, the Exalted, { وَلاَ تَأْخُذْکُمْ بِہِمَا رَأْفَۃٌ فِی دِینِ اللہِ }, it is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid that he said: It is about enforcing the punishment, that once the punishment is enforced, it should not be stopped.
