Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Hazrami narrates that I brought my slave to Hazrat Umar and said, "Please cut off his hand." He asked, "What is his crime?" I replied, "He has stolen my wife's mirror, which is worth more than sixty dirhams." Hazrat Umar said, "Your slave has stolen your own property."

Hazrat Amr bin Shurahbil narrates that Hazrat Ma'qil Muzani came to Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud and said: My slave has stolen my cloak, so cut off his hand. Hazrat Abdullah replied: No, some part of your wealth is mixed with some part (of his).

Hazrat Hakam narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When my servant stole from my wealth, I did not cut off his hand.

Hazrat Saeed bin Mina reports that Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair used to manage and supervise the charity of Hazrat Zubair, and the charity wealth would be kept in that house into which no one except Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair and his slave-girl could enter. Then some of that wealth went missing. So he said to the slave-girl: No one except you and me enters this house, so who has taken this wealth? The slave-girl confessed. Then he said to me: O Saeed, take her and cut off her hand, because if it had been mine, then her hand would not have been cut.
