Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Yunus narrates that Hasan Basri said: When a slave confesses to drinking alcohol, his master will give him forty lashes.

Hazrat Zuhri states that I have received information regarding Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Uthman, and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that all these personalities used to administer eighty lashes to a slave in the case of drinking alcohol.
