Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdur Rahman narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud said: The prescribed punishment (hadd) will not be carried out except on two persons: one is the person who slanders a chaste woman, and the other is the person who denies a man’s lineage from his father, even if his mother is a slave woman.

Hazrat Muammar states that Hazrat Zuhri said: When a man denies another man’s relationship to his father, then certainly the prescribed punishment (hadd) will be carried out upon him, even if his mother is a slave woman.

Hazrat Hammad states that it is narrated from Ibrahim regarding a man who said to another: "You are not your father's son," while his mother was a slave woman, or a Jewess, or a Christian. Then that person will not be flogged.

Hazrat Sufyan narrates from a certain Sheikh of the tribe of Azd that Hasan Basri and Hazrat Sha’bi were asked about this matter by Ibn Hubayrah. Both of them replied: The prescribed punishment of lashes will be carried out on him. This was said regarding the person who denied a man’s lineage from his father, while his mother was a slave woman.
