Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Yahya bin Sa‘d narrates that Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin ‘Amr bin Hazm flogged a slave with eighty lashes who had accused a free person of slander.

Hazrat Muammar states that Hazrat Zuhri said: This slave will be given the same lashes.

Hazrat Masoodi states that Hazrat Qasim bin Abdur Rahman said: He will be given the same number of lashes.

Hazrat Jarir bin Hazim narrates that I read the letter of Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz written to Adi bin Arta’ah. After praise and salutations, he inquired about the slave who falsely accused a free person, asking how many lashes should be given to him. And he mentioned that he had received news that when he was in Madinah, he had given the slave forty lashes, but in his last action, he had given the slave eighty lashes. Indeed, the lashes he had given earlier were based on his own opinion which he had formed, and indeed, the lashes he had given in his last action were in accordance with the Book of Allah. Therefore, you should also give him eighty lashes.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abu Bakr narrates that Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz gave eighty lashes to the slave who made a false accusation.
