Hazrat Hisham states that Hazrat Urwah said: There will be no hadd (prescribed punishment) for one who accuses a dhimmi (non-Muslim under Muslim protection) of slander.

Hazrat Tawus, Hazrat Mujahid, and others among these respected personalities have stated: When a Jewish or Christian woman is under a Muslim (i.e., married to a Muslim), there will be no *li'an* (mutual cursing) between them, nor will there be the prescribed punishment (hadd) upon the one who accuses either of them.

Hazrat Abdul Malik bin Abu Ghaniyyah narrates that Hazrat Hakam said: When a man accuses another man while his (the accused's) mother is a Jew or a Christian, then the prescribed punishment (hadd) will not be applied to him.

Hazrat Muammar states that Hazrat Zuhri said: When a Jew or Christian is falsely accused, the one who makes the accusation will be punished with discretionary punishment (ta'zir).

Hazrat Abu Khaldah narrates that Hazrat Ikrimah said: If a person who has accused a Jew or a Christian is brought to me and I am the ruler, I will certainly punish him.
