Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the hand to be cut off for a shield whose price was three dirhams.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The hand will be cut off for four dinars or more.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the hand to be cut off for five dirhams.

Hazrat Sa'd narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The thief's hand will be cut off for theft equal to the price of a shield.

Hazrat Ja'far's father narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) cut off the hand of a thief for stealing an iron egg, the value of which was four dinars.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr narrates that I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The hand will be cut off for the price of a shield.

Hazrat Umrah narrates that Ummul Momineen Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Truthful, said: The hand will be cut off for four dinars or more in value.

Hazrat Humaid says that Hazrat Anas was asked about how much value of theft would require the thief's hand to be cut off? He replied: Indeed, Hazrat Abu Bakr had the hand cut off for such a value that I would not like that thing to be mine even for five dirhams or three dirhams.

Hazrat Qatadah says that Hazrat Anas stated: A man stole a shield during the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr, so his hand was cut off.

Hazrat Khalid narrates that Hazrat Ikrimah said: In the theft of a shield's price, the thief's hand will be cut off. The narrator says: I asked, "Had the price of this shield been mentioned before you?" He replied: Four or five dirhams.

Hazrat Dawood bin Farahij narrates that he heard Hazrat Abu Hurairah and Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri saying: The thief's hand will not be cut except for theft of four dirhams or more.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abu Bakr narrates that Hazrat Amrah said: Indeed, I know that Hazrat Usman had a hand cut off for stealing an orange, the value of which was estimated at three dirhams.

Hazrat Umrah states that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The hand will be cut off for four dinars. And Hazrat Umrah said: Hazrat Umar cut off a hand for the theft of an orange.

Hazrat Burd narrates that Hazrat Makhool said: The thief's hand will be cut off for theft equal to the value of a shield.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib narrates that Hazrat Umar said: All five fingers will not be cut except in theft amounting to five dirhams.

Hazrat Qatadah says that Hazrat Sulaiman bin Yasar stated: The five fingers will not be cut except in theft amounting to five dirhams.

Hazrat Qasim narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair ordered the hand to be cut off for the theft of shoes.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Hazrat Nafi' narrates that some people used to steal things on the way to Makkah. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said that if you do this again, I will have your hands cut off.

Hazrat Abu Huraira narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: May Allah curse the thief; he steals an egg, so his hand is cut off, and he steals a rope, so his hand is cut off.

Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Muhammad narrates that a man was brought to Hazrat Usman who had stolen an orange, so he set its value at four dinars, thus his hand was cut off.
