Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sa'id bin Muslim narrates that Hazrat Sha'bi was asked about a murdered person who was found lying in three neighborhoods in such a way that his head was found in one neighborhood, his legs in another, and his middle part in yet another neighborhood. What is the ruling regarding this? Hazrat Sha'bi replied: The funeral prayer will be offered over the middle part, and the people of the place where the middle part was found will be responsible for paying blood money (diyat) and taking the oath (qasamah) that they did not kill him and do not know the killer.
