Hadith 29721
٢٩٧٢١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا مروان بن معاوية عن الربيع بن النعمان عن أمه أن امرأة من بني ليث يقال لها أم هارون: بينما هي جالسة تقطع (من) (١) لحم أضحيتها، إذ شد كلب في الدار على ذلك اللحم، فرمته بالسكين فأخطأته واعترض ابن لها فوقعت السكين في بطنه (مرتزة) (٢) فمات، فوداه علي من بيت المال (٣).
Hazrat Rabee’ bin Nu’man narrates from his mother that a woman from the tribe of Banu Laith, whose name was Umm Haroon: While she was sitting and cutting the meat of her sacrificial animal, suddenly a dog attacked the meat in the house. The woman threw a knife at it, but her aim missed, and the knife struck her son, who was lying there, in the stomach, and he died. So Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) paid his blood money from the public treasury (Bait-ul-Mal).
Hadith 29722
٢٩٧٢٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا (علي) (١) بن مسهر عن سعيد عن قتادة عن خلاس قال: رمى رجل أمة بحجر فقتلها، فطلب ميراثها من إخوته فقال إخوته: لا ميراث (لك) (٢)، فارتفعوا إلى علي، فأخرجه من الميراث وقضى عليه بالدية وقال: ⦗٢٧٣⦘ حظك منها ذلك الحجر (٣).
Hazrat Khallas narrates that a man killed his mother by striking her with a stone. Then he began to demand his share of his mother's inheritance from his brothers. His brothers said: "There is no inheritance for you." They presented this matter before Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He excluded the man from the inheritance and ruled that blood money (diyat) was obligatory upon him, and said: "From your mother's side, your share will be that stone."
Hadith 29723
٢٩٧٢٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو خالد عن حجاج عن ابن أبي نجيح عن مجاهد (١).
Hazrat Ata narrates that Hazrat Qatada had an umm walad who used to graze his goats. The son born from this slave woman said to him, "How long will you keep my mother as a slave? By Allah! You cannot keep her as a slave for longer than the period you have already kept her." He (Qatada) said, "Indeed, what are you doing here?" Then he struck her with a sword and killed her. Regarding this matter, Hazrat Suraqah bin Jusham wrote a letter to Hazrat Umar, so he replied, "Send him to me with one hundred and twenty camels." According to the narrator Hajjaj, among them were thirty hiqqah, thirty jadh'ah, and forty others. Hazrat Umar distributed them among her brothers.
Hadith 29727
٢٩٧٢٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو أسامة عن عوف قال: كان عمر بن ⦗٢٧٤⦘ حيان الحماني يصنع (الخيل) (١) وإنه حمل ابنه على فرس، فخر فتقطر من الفرس (٢) فمات، فجعلت ديته على عاقلته زمان زياد على البصرة.
Hazrat Auf narrates that Umar bin Hayan Hammani used to take great care of his horse, and when he made his son ride the horse, the boy fell down, landing on his side, and passed away. The blood money (diyah) for him was imposed upon his family members during the governorship of Ziyad in Basra.
Hadith 29728
٢٩٧٢٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن فضيل عن أشعث عن ابن سيرين قال: حمل رجل ابنه على فرس (ليشوره) (١) فنخس به (وصوت) (٢) به فقتله، فجعل ديته على عاقلته ولم يورث الأب شيئًا.
Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hazrat Ibn Sirin said: A man made his son ride a horse so that he could present the horse for sale. He drove a nail into the horse's haunch to make it run faster and called out to it, so the horse killed his son. Thus, the responsibility for the blood money was placed upon his family members, and the father was not made an heir to anything.
