Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sulaiman bin Yasar narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Two witnesses are necessary besides yourself.

Hazrat Masoodi narrates that Hazrat Qasim said: Two men came from Kufa to Hazrat Umar bin Khattab. They found him while he was returning from the House of Allah. Both of them said, "O Commander of the Faithful! Our cousin has been killed, and we are equally entitled to his blood." He remained silent with them and said, "Both of you bring two just witnesses against the person who killed him, then I will have you take retribution from him."

Hazrat Fudayl says that Ibrahim stated: It is necessary to have two witnesses in cases of blood.

Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hasan Basri said: Retaliation (qisas) is not permissible except with the testimony of four people.

Hazrat Mutarrif narrates that Hazrat Sha'bi said: There are two witnesses.
