Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj states that I asked Hazrat Ibn Shihab whether taking an oath regarding blood is based on knowledge or with certainty? He replied: With certainty.

Hazrat Ibn Sirin states that Hazrat Shurayh said regarding Qasamah: I will consider them guilty even though I know, that is, I will make them swear that neither have we committed the murder nor do we have any knowledge of the killer.

Hazrat Hasan bin Abdullah narrates that Ibrahim said: Each man among them will be made to swear an oath as follows: "By Allah, I did not kill, nor do I know the killer." Then the blood money will be paid.

Hazrat Shaibani states that Hazrat Sha'bi said: In the region of Wadi'ah in Yemen, a man was found dead. This matter was presented before Hazrat Umar, so he made fifty men among them swear an oath as follows: "We did not kill (him), nor do we know the killer." Then he paid the blood money (diyah) for the murdered man.

Hazrat Hisham states that Hasan Basri said: In Qasamah, the oath by Allah will be taken in this way: "We did not commit the murder, nor do we know the murderer."

Hasan Basri and Hazrat Muhammad bin Sirin, both of these personalities state that Hazrat Shurayh made those people swear as follows: "By Allah, we did not kill, nor do we have any knowledge of the killer."
