Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abu Dhi'b states that Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz ordered the payment of blood money to the one who inflicted a wound on the head.

Hazrat Ibn Abu Dhi'b narrates from a man that Hazrat Sa'id bin al-Musayyib said: The 'Aqilah will not pay the blood money except for one third or more than that.

Hazrat Umar bin Abdur Rahman Sahmi narrates from a man that a person came to Hazrat Umar bin Khattab regarding a wound on the head, so he said, "We do not pay compensation among ourselves for mere pieces of flesh."

Isa says that Hazrat Sha’bi stated: There is no compensation less than that for a head wound.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj says that I asked Hazrat Ata when does the amount of blood money reach such a level that all the members of the 'Aqilah are required to pay it—when it reaches one-third? He replied: Yes, I think so, and I have no doubt that he also said this: and as long as it does not reach one-third, then at that time it will be obligatory upon the specific tribe of that person.

Hazrat Abu Umayyah Akhnas narrates that I was sitting with Hazrat Umar bin Khattab when a man from the tribe of Banu Ghifar came and said, "Surely, my son has received a head injury." So he (Umar) said, "Indeed, the people of the town do not pay blood money for these pieces of flesh."
