Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Safwan bin Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Umayyah, narrates that his father, Hazrat Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Umayyah, said: I had a servant who got into a fight with someone. Then one of them bit the hand of the other. Hazrat Ata said: Hazrat Safwan informed me that one of them bit the hand of the other, so the person whose hand was being bitten pulled his hand out of the mouth of the one biting, and one of his teeth broke. Then both of them came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) declared the claim for the tooth invalid.

Hazrat Imran bin Husain narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) declared this tooth as forfeited.

Hazrat Ata says that in the time of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a man cut off someone’s hand, so that person knocked out his teeth. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) declared his teeth to be forfeited.

Ayyub narrates that Hazrat Ibn Sirin said: I have been informed that a man bit someone’s hand with his teeth, so that person pulled his hand out of his mouth and, in doing so, one or two of the man’s teeth fell out. Then this man came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking retribution. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Would he have left his hand in your mouth so that you could eat it? If you wish, stretch out your hand to him, he will bite it with his teeth, and you can pull it away.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Mulaika narrates from his grandfather that a man came to Hazrat Abu Bakr in a state that someone had bitten him, so he pulled his hand away from his mouth and as a result, his front teeth fell out. Upon this, Hazrat Abu Bakr said: His teeth have perished.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj states that Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar declared the loss of his teeth to be void and invalid.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Ubaidullah narrates that a man bit someone’s hand with his teeth, so the person pulled his hand away, causing the front teeth of the biter to break. Hazrat Shurayh declared his teeth to be without compensation.
