Hazrat Sha'bi and Hazrat Hakam, both state that Ibrahim said: The first person to fix salaries was Hazrat Umar bin Khattab, and he set the full blood money (diyah) to be paid over three years: two-thirds of the diyah in two years, half in two years, and one-third in one year, and if it is less than that, then it must be paid within the same year.

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim said: The payment of blood money will be made over three years; its first portion will be paid in the year in which the harm was caused, and two-thirds in two years, and one-third in one year.

Ayyub Abu al-Ala reports that Hazrat Qatadah and Hazrat Hashim, both of them stated: The payment of blood money (diyah) will be made over three years: two-thirds and half of the diyah in two years, and one-third in one year.

Hazrat Harith narrates that Hazrat Sha'bi said: The payment of blood money will be made over three years, in such a way that one third will be given each year.
