Hadith 29132
٢٩١٣٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن حجاج عن مكحول عن زيد قال: في العقل الدية (١).
Hazrat Mak'hool states that Zaid said: In the case of loss of intellect, there will be blood money (diyah).
Hadith 29133
٢٩١٣٣ - [حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا سفيان عن ابن أبي نجيح عن مجاهد قال: في العقل الدية] (١).
Hazrat Ibn Abi Najeeh states that Hazrat Mujahid said: In the case of loss of intellect, there will be blood money (diyah).
Hadith 29134
٢٩١٣٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا محمد بن أبي عدي عن (أشعث) (١) عن الحسن في رجل أفزع رجلًا فذهب عقله قال: لو أدركه عمر لضمنه.
Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hasan Basri was asked: If someone frightened a person and he lost his sanity, what is the ruling? He replied: If Hazrat Umar had found him, he would certainly have taken compensation from him.
Hadith 29135
٢٩١٣٥ - [حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا سليمان بن (حيان) (١) عن عوف قال: سمعت شيخًا قبل (فتنة) (٢) ابن الأشعث (فنعت نعته) (٣) -قالوا: ذلك أبو المهلب (عم) (٤) (أبي) (٥) قلابة، قال: رمى رجل رجلًا في رأسه بحجر، فذهب سمعه ولسانه وعقله وذكره فلم يقرب النساء، فقضى فيه عمر بأربع ديات] (٦) (٧).
Hazrat Auf narrates that I heard from a certain Sheikh before the Fitnah of Ibn Ash'ath that he described its characteristics. Those people said: This is Abu al-Muhallab, who is the uncle of Hazrat Abu Qilabah. He said that a man struck another man on the head with a stone, causing him to lose his hearing, speech, intellect, and the power of his sexual organ, so that he could no longer approach women. Upon this, Hazrat Umar decided that four blood monies (diyahs) should be given for him.
