Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sufyan bin Husain narrates that Hazrat Hakam used to say regarding the compensation for the crime of an umm walad: it should not exceed her value, and Hazrat Hammad said: the blood money will be according to the injury she has caused.

Hazrat Abu Ma'shar narrates that Ibrahim said: The compensation for the offense committed by an umm walad will be obligatory upon her master.

Hazrat Muammar states that Hazrat Zuhri said regarding the crime of an Umm Walad: When she commits a punishable offense, the liability for that crime will be upon her master.

Yunus narrates that Hasan Basri said regarding Umm Walad: When she commits a punishable offense, her value will be assessed before her master.

Hazrat Zakariya narrates that Hazrat Amir Sha'bi was asked about a slave woman who killed another woman while her master is alive and has not set her free, even though she is his umm walad. He replied: She is still a slave; if her master wishes, he may pay the blood money on her behalf, and if he wishes, he may hand her over to them because of her action.
