Explanation of a Crime Committed Against a Mukatab Slave
Hadith 29123
٢٩١٢٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن مبارك عن ابن جريج عن عطاء قال: ما جني على المكاتب فهو له يستعين (به) (١) في كتابته -كذا كان يقول من كان قبلكم.
Hazrat Ibn Jurayj states that Hazrat Ata said: In the case where a mukatab suffers a loss and receives compensation, he will use it to assist in paying off the remaining amount of his contract of manumission. The people before you have also said the same.
Hadith 29124
٢٩١٢٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا جرير عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال: ما جني على المكاتب فهو له.
Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim said: In the case where a mukatab suffers a loss and receives compensation, then he alone is entitled to that compensation.
Hadith 29125
٢٩١٢٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: سمعت سفيان يقول: إذا جني عليه كان له دون مولاه.
Hazrat Waki’ says that I heard Hazrat Sufyan saying: When compensation is received for damage caused to a mukatab, it will belong to him and not to his master.
