Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave the ruling of retribution (qisas) in the case of a tooth and said, "The Book of Allah..." meaning that it is the retribution ordained by Allah.

Hazrat Muharib bin Dithar narrates that two men came to Shurayh; one had knocked out the other's molar tooth, and the other had done the same to the first. So he (Shurayh) said: "This tooth is in exchange for the molar, so both of you may go."

Hazrat Sha'bi and Hasan have stated that there is no qisas (retaliation) for the head or teeth in any bone.

Hazrat Amir said that retaliation (qisas) will be taken for a tooth.

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj said that I asked Ata whether retribution (qisas) would be taken for the eye, and he replied, "Yes, and retribution will also be taken for the tooth."
